FOLLICLE UNIT EXTRACTION (FUE)

This is new successful technique using very precise grafts by using micro grafting for extremely good results.

It involves extraction of individual hair follicles from an area on the scalp or body and reinsertion of the follicles into the hairlines. This is usually done under local anaesthetic.

The hair can also be extracted from the body, say thigh or torso and the hair can be used in the zone in which the hair is removed is easily integrated.

The advantages to this procedure are that:-

  • Faster healing time
  • Less discomfort
  • No incision
  • No stitching
  • No bandaging to keep the hair in place
  • Mimics your hair's own pattern
  • More natural look
  • More grafts can be transplanted at one time resulting in fewer sessions.

FOLLICLE UNIT TRANSPLANTATION (FUT) - STRIP METHOD

This involves the removal of a hair-bearing strip from the back or the side of the head. The donor area is sutured to leave a thin, almost invisible line that the surrounding hair grows through and over to cover. Because the closure causes little tension, even immediately, on the tissue this allows the minimum of strip invasiveness and cosmetic change to the scalp.

Each follicle unit (FU) is separated from the main strip under fibre-optic microscope to maintain the quality of the tissue, stop temperature rises and any damage to the grafts. This leaves all the follicular units in their natural state divided into single and multiple hairs. Whilst they are being prepared the recipient site is being created and the grafts then placed. Hair growth will grow within a few days of surgery.

This procedure is done under local anaesthetic and is almost painless, with no need for bandages
